This is not a political message; we will not waste time on politics, regardless of how politically charged the world is right now. The reason is that all human governments, no matter how popular, will have an end. On the other hand, this government that we want to talk about today will have no end. What’s more, it is not established by voters or electors. It is to be performed by the zeal of the Lord of Hosts.
For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His government and peace There will be no end, Upon the throne of David and over His kingdom, To order it and establish it with judgment and justice From that time forward, even forever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this (Isaiah 9:6-7, New King James Version).
Because of Christmas, the government of your life will be upon Jesus. You will no longer have to struggle before you succeed. Amen.
What is so special about this particular birth? The Baby Himself. J-E-S-U-S, Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of peace – a totally comprehensive package of salvation and deliverance. Which is why on the night of His birth, Then the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people (Luke 2:10).
Why was Jesus born? Most scholars agree on 1 John 3:8, He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil. Jesus came to destroy the works of the devil in lives that are submitted to Jesus. You might be familiar with some of the works of the devil; we find them listed before the prophecy of Jesus' birth; Nevertheless the gloom will not be upon her who is distressed, As when at first He lightly esteemed The land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, And afterward more heavily oppressed her, By the way of the sea, beyond the Jordan, In Galilee of the Gentiles. The people who walked in darkness Have seen a great light; Those who dwelt in the land of the shadow of death, Upon them a light has shined. You have multiplied the nation And increased its joy; They rejoice before You According to the joy of harvest, As men rejoice when they divide the spoil. For You have broken the yoke of his burden And the staff of his shoulder, The rod of his oppressor, As in the day of Midian. For every warrior’s sandal from the noisy battle, And garments rolled in blood, Will be used for burning and fuel of fire.
There is gloom, distress, oppression, darkness, shadow of death, yoke, burden. Nevertheless, right next to each of the problems, there is a solution. Jesus is the checkmate for the devil, always.
Perhaps you are in relationship or mental dark place. The coming of Jesus at Christmas brings you light.
The doctor’s pronouncement has plunged you into the valley of the shadow of death; but because the Sun of Righteousness that arises with healing in His wings has come, it is turning to life for you, Amen
Your finances are short and you must calculate before you spend. Relax, in Jesus government, there is no recession, because in verse 3, we see They rejoice before You. According to the joy of harvest, As men rejoice when they divide the spoil.
You can now have victory over sinful habits or the devil and His cohorts because in this government, He has broken the yoke of your burden.
You have scored some victory but want to make it permanent. Listen, your ruler has rolled the enemies’ garments in blood and used it as fuel of fire – burnt it and consumed it.
You have problems in your relationships and wonder what is going to happen; Your boss is harsh or your coworkers are lazy or even mean. You ask if you will ever have peace. Yes, the Prince of peace is born!
This promise was fulfilled 700 years after the promise was pronounced; that means that no matter how long ago the promise, in the fullness of time, it will manifest, But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law (Galatians 4:4).
Another factor that makes Christmas unique is that on that day, God gave both a child and a gift:
Everybody (100%) saw the child but not all perceived the gift of a Son; those that did thanked God for His indescribable gift (1 Cor 9:15).
It is truly impossible to describe a gift who is also the giver.
Then there is the group that knows Jesus as the gift but who have not decided to accept the gift. A gift is not a gift until it is given and accepted. Heb 11:11 explains that Sarah could not have a child until she received him by faith.
Still, some accept Jesus as a gift but leave Him on the shelf – like paying federal taxes but not deriving benefits from the government.
I wonder to which group I belong; you?
Finally, God did Christmas all by Himself. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform it, (Isaiah 9:7). You may recall that when Mary was told that this promise would be fulfilled though her, she asked the question 'how' Then Mary said to the angel, “How can this be, since I do not know a man? (Luke 1:34). The angel gave her the same response that we read in Isaiah 9:7. It is all about the zeal of the Lord. God gave the same answer when Moses asked a similar question in Numbers 11: 22-23.Shall flocks and herds be slaughtered for them, to provide enough for them? Or shall all the fish of the sea be gathered together for them, to provide enough for them?” And the Lord said to Moses, “Has the Lord’s arm been shortened? Now you shall see whether what I say will happen to you or not.” It happened, just like God said. They had more than sufficient meat throughout the rest of their journey.
This means that if you have been wondering how God will destroy the works of the devil in your life, wonder no more; the Zeal of the Lord will perform it.
If you still have a problem about rejoicing at Christmas, let these words sink into your spirit. behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people, (Luke 2:10). All you need do is to be a part of 'We the people'; then, nobody can deny you the full rights of citizenship. If you would like to be part of Jesus' government, elect today to accept God’s gift. Then the devil will know that you are no longer under His control but have been transferred into the Kingdom of Jesus (Col 1:13).
