Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil (Eph 6:11, King James Version).
What is an Armour? It is a special metal clothing that soldiers wore in the past to protect their bodies while fighting - with all parts such as helmet, visor, breastplate, gauntlet, greaves of brass, etc (1 Sam. 17:4-6). We shall look at the Christian amour and its vital parts today. May the Lord Himself teach us in Jesus’ name. Amen.
The Christian walk as a warfare
This particular warfare is a deadly conflict between Satan, his hosts and the Christian soldier (Gen 2:16-17, 3:1-4, Eph 6:12).
Because the Christian walk is warfare, a Christian must be prepared and equipped, (Gal 4:1-2, lsaiah 9:6, Eph 4:10-14, 6:14-17). This guarantees our victory. Every act of sin (disobedience in order to entangle ourselves with the affairs of this life) brings defeat in the warfare.
Adam, Lot, Esau, Saul, Uzziah, Hezekiah, David, etc, experienced one form of defeat or the other due to sin and their defeat not only affected them but also generations after them, (2 Tim 2:3-4, 1 John 2:15-17).
Put on the whole armour of God The provision has already been made by God, (Eph 6:13, 2 Chro 14:8, Ps 33:20). You only need to put on the armour so that it is always available for you use, (Eph 6:14-17, 2 Cor 10:3-6).
The armour consists of:
Girdle of truth —Rev 1:13.
Breastplate of righteousness — Is 59:17a.
Sandal of the preparation of the gospel of peace— Heb 12:14.
Shield of faith — John 5:4, 1 Thess 5:18.
Helmet of salvation — Is 59:17b, 1 Thess 5:8.
Sword of the Spirit (God’s Word) — 2 Thess 2:8, Heb 4:12.
Pray always and watch — Eph 6:18.
The armour is limited to the front of the Christian soldier, so a Christian must not turn his back on the battle, otherwise the enemies will unleash an attack and defeat the him since there is no protection for his back.
Conclusion: You are a Christian soldier, so you need to wear your amour if you are to be victorious and escape defeat in the warfare of life.
