Blessed is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful; But his delight is in the law of the Lord, And in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper (Psalm 1:1-3, New King James Version).
When the President or someone else in high office nominates you, it is only for office; you are never certain whether you will make a success of that office or not. But when God nominates you, as we see in he above text, it is always for success and approval. When God nominates you, what benefits should you expect?
You are blessed, that is, you are given the power to succeed. That way, you are already approved.
You are like a plant by the rivers and you are watered by the Holy Spirit (v 3).
You will yield fruit in its season, just when you need it.
You cannot die soon because of the promise that you shall not wither.
Whatever you do shall prosper (selling pure water, or peanuts), whether it is at work or at play, in the field or at home as we also see in Deut 28:6, Blessed shall you be when you come in, and blessed shall you be when you go out.
You are fruitful, as in Gen 1:28 where God blessed them, and God told them to go and multiply.
You will multiply - you know of course, that multiplication is preferable to addition because it means greater increase.
Your generation shall not fail God because you will replenish the earth, not only with people but with the knowledge of the word of God.
You will live in victory because you are empowered to subdue all that is of the earth; all enemies and forces, even when they try to rise against you.
Finally, you have dominion over every living thing.
With such powerful benefits accruing to you when God nominates you for blessing, you obviously want to find out how to qualify. God being Who He is, does not wish for us to live in ignorance of His requirements and so we find them already listed in the same psalm, where it says, Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful; But his delight is in the law of the Lord, And in His law he meditates day and night. (Psalm 1:1-2), from where we find the following Nomination Qualifications:
You do not walk or associate with the ungodly.
You do not listen to their counsel or advice. When they say to you “Let us go and do evil”, your answer is a definite "No".
You do not walk in the way of sinners - you avoid them
You do not sit in the seat of the scornful, people like Pharaoh who asked. Who is God? You do not ask “what has God done for me lately”?
Your delight is in the law of the Lord; there are at least 365 'fear nots' in the bible and countless other promises. This man knows the ones that apply to his situation.
That is because he meditates day and night in God’s law and word, and therefore you can have honey every day of your life - from the word of God because Psalm 119:103 says How sweet are thy words unto my taste! yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth!
The question we have to ask ourselves is this: can you truthfully claim that God knows you? If you run to Him for security, will He say to you, "Depart from me, you worker of iniquity - I do not know you?" Or will God celebrate you?
When He accepts you, I Cor 2:9 will begin to manifest in your life. But as it is written: “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”
We shall have power to succeed as you receive grace to qualify for nomination in Jesus name. Amen.
