I had been searching for a ticket for a trip I wanted to take overseas but did not want to purchase it too soon, for both industry and personal reasons. In that in the aviation industry, your ticket is more expensive if you buy it too far ahead and personally, I did not want to overcharging my credit card in any one month.
On the day before I was to buy it, I saw on the search website that I use, Sky Scanner, that a round trip ticket was costing less than 60% of the next more affordable cost. That smelled like foul play. Coupled with the fact that it was being offered by Priceline, an agency with a 1.5/5 review, translating to a bad reputation, I knew there was a need for prayer. I didn't want a scenario where I would be holding a ticket that was not attached to a seat on the aircraft.
I spent some time that night researching that reputation, hoping that something positive would turn up about them, motivated by that extremely low price, but it all looked bad. Nothing was going to stop me from praying. As the new day dawned on which to finally purchase my ticket, I anxiously searched Sky Scanner but I heard God telling me to relax and simply go through my morning duties.
Not easy, but I obeyed, trusting that if God wanted me to get an affordable ticket, He was able to keep the advertised prices stable for a few more hours. After those duties, which included my daily quiet time, I leisurely search, my anxiety having been quelled by spending time with God.
Imagine my surprise when the search site turned up a lower price. And not only a lower price, but one that did not go through an agency. It was advertised by the airline itself! I was truly awed by God. If I had not obeyed God, I would have bought through an agency that everybody says sucks and at a higher price.
You guessed it, now that there were even lower prices, I went back to search for a better schedule. That was the one that I ended up purchasing, Not through any travel agency but directly from the airline and at a price that was still slightly lower than the fake advertised cost on Priceline. Yes, fake because when I clicked on their price, I was told sorry, that price is no longer available.
But this is not about Priceline but about how obedience to God gave me a better schedule at a lower price direct from the airline. I truly stand in awe of God.
